Bathed in Light: The Story Behind My Lens & Lux Magazine Cover
Some milestones mark your journey. Others feel like a quiet arrival — a moment that mirrors everything you’ve worked toward, everything you’ve held close in your heart. This is one of those moments.
When I found out that one of my maternity portraits had been chosen for the cover of Lens & Lux Magazine’s Golden Hour Edition, I felt deeply honoured — and honestly, quite moved.
A Moments That Means So Much
The image they selected was taken during a golden hour session that still lingers with me. The mother, standing beside the water, radiated a strength and stillness that felt almost sacred. The light didn’t just fall — it danced, curved, wrapped around her like a warm exhale.
When I’m photographing mothers, I’m not chasing perfection or poses. I’m seeking presence. I want my images to feel like a deep breath — grounded, radiant, and full of truth.
I’ve always felt beautiful during pregnancy. Not because of makeup or styling, but because of the sense of becoming — of being so utterly alive and connected. That’s the energy I bring into every motherhood session. To see that kind of image honoured by a publication I admire… it’s hard to put into words. But I’ll try.
Why These Sessions Matter
Mother’s Day has a way of bringing focus back to the heart. To everything a mother carries, creates, and becomes. And offering these minis — intentionally styled, beautifully timed, filled with light and love — felt like such a meaningful way to honour that.
A Golden Hour Reflection
Golden hour has always been my time — the way I see the world, the way I shape stories. It’s not just about the light (though that part never gets old). It’s about what the light reveals. A tenderness. A connection. A glow that’s more emotional than visual.
This cover feature feels like a celebration of everything I’ve been building — not just as a photographer, but as a mother, a storyteller, and a woman deeply in love with this work.
