A Story of The Season That Stirs The Soul

About this series

Hi, I’m Angelina—a family and motherhood photographer based in Sydney.

This month, I’m sharing a 31-day colour challenge: a gentle exploration of how colour shapes our memories, our emotions, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Each day, I’ll be reflecting on a different hue—through photos, stories, and the little wonders I find when I slow down and look closely.

Thanks for being here.

The Colour Brown – A Season That Stirs The Soul

This hue lives in the leaves that crunch beneath your boots, in the filtered sun that slips through half-bare branches. A softened blend of ochre, rust, and amber—today’s colour is not one single tone, but a feeling: of seasons turning, of warmth fading slowly into memory.

Autumn is my favourite season—always has been. There’s something about it that reaches into the soul. It carries a quiet nostalgia, a longing that’s hard to name. I find so much comfort in it: the crispness of the air, the scent of spices drifting from the kitchen, the way golden leaves gather like scattered thoughts waiting to be pressed between pages.

It’s a season of letting go, yes—but also of beauty in transition. The falling leaves aren’t an ending; they’re an invitation. A soft reminder that sometimes things must fall away so that something more meaningful, more beautiful, can take shape.

Colour Insight

Golden tones like ochre, amber, and russet are often associated with nostalgia, transformation, and warmth. Psychologically, they evoke joy and vitality, while also inviting reflection. In art and photography, these hues add richness and emotional depth, anchoring a scene in time. They remind us of natural cycles—the way things rise, shift, and gently fade.

The Everyday Wonder

Wonder lives in rustling branches and leaf-littered footpaths. It lives in the glow of late afternoon when everything seems dipped in honey. Sometimes, it’s just a walk through trees with your child’s hand in yours—their eyes catching every colour as if for the first time.

Take a walk outdoors today, even if just for five minutes. Notice one leaf. Its texture, colour, or shape. Photograph it—or simply carry it home. What does it stir in you?
