A Study in Stillness and Story

About this series

Hi, I’m Angelina—a family and motherhood photographer based in Sydney.

This month, I’m sharing a 31-day colour challenge: a gentle exploration of how colour shapes our memories, our emotions, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Each day, I’ll be reflecting on a different hue—through photos, stories, and the little wonders I find when I slow down and look closely.

Thanks for being here.

The Colour White – A Study in Stillness and Story

There’s something about white that feels like a beginning.

It’s not blank or empty—but open.

A space where stories haven’t yet been written, where light can soften, and where stillness holds weight.

Today’s photograph's were simple—just white roses, fresh after a heavy rainfall.

Their petals, kissed by the last of the drops, looked softer than silk.

There was something quietly defiant about them—blooming in the hush that follows a storm.

I didn’t pose them too much. I just let them be. And in that stillness, something beautiful happened.

Colour Insight

White is often misunderstood.

It’s seen as a lack of colour—but in truth, it’s all of them at once. A prism held still.

In photography, it’s the light that cradles the subject. In design, it’s the negative space that lets everything breathe.

And in life—it’s presence. A pause. A hush.

It’s the colour of breath before words.

Of peace that follows the storm.

The Everyday Wonder

You’ll find white in the quietest corners of life:

In cotton sheets and baby onesies.

In candle wax, worn pages, and the petals that fall before anyone notices.

In roses that open again after the rain.

White is the colour of the things we almost overlook.

The gentle moments. The soft resilience. The things that ask nothing of us but attention.

What if today, you made room for white?

Not the absence of life—but the quiet space that lets it bloom again.
